Discipline

imfemalewarrior:

Discipline is the Art of Self Control. Controlling when you train in Martial Arts and how long each training session lasts. Controlling each of your limbs as you make them do what you want in order to learn each move correctly and do it thousands of times until it becomes muscle memory. Controlling your desire to rush in to do everything and instead waiting until you build up the skills and stamina and Strength required to do anything in Martial Arts. It’s controlling your desire to be as good as your teacher immediately and instead doing the same move over and over and over until you perfect it.

Discipline is the Art of Patience. Waiting until you develop your skills that will allow you to do everything you want to do in Martial Arts. Waiting to see your slow progress over time as you develop your skills and perfect your moves. Waiting to see the changes in your body as you develop Strength and stamina and muscle memory.

Discipline is an important aspect of Martial Arts, as it helps practitioners stay with their training over a long period of time because they understand what it takes to become skilled in Martial Arts.

This is an excellent description of Self Control, a Moral Virtue of Manliness.

FemaleWarrior is my counterpart, leading the discussion of training and fighting from a Woman’s point of view, as a female fighter.

Thank you FemaleWarrior!

Good stuff!
